Abstract

The cascading citations indexing framework has been proposed as a new method for calculating the impact a researcher’s work has. The algorithm presented in this paper calculates the total number of citations a distinct (article, author) pair has received, taking into consideration not only the direct citations but also the indirect ones. The algorithm is tested against the CiteSeer bibliographic database. The results presented demonstrate the different ranking of the pairs based on the depth at which one examines the bibliographic references received.
